After more than a decade apart, Tallahassee family reunites with lost cat

  • December 9, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After a decade apart, a Tallahassee family and their lost cat, Audrey, are finally reunited.

Audrey’s owner, Lisa Jackson, recalled the moment their family cat Audrey went missing in 2015.

“She was an indoor kitty and once in a while she would dart out the front door, one day we realized we couldn’t find her in the house,” Jackson said.

More good news:

Jackson said they spent years searching for Audrey, calling local vets and scouring shelters, but they eventually lost hope.

“It was really heartbreaking for her to be lost like that; it was hard for the family,” she said.

The tragedy was especially hard for Jackson’s 15-year-old daughter at the time, Gabby Pessin.

But then, 10 years later, Lisa got a phone call from a local rescue and another call from a microchip company with the most unbelievable news.

“Leaving a voicemail saying they had been notified that Audrey had been found,” she said. “I was just in shock, I couldn’t believe this was happening.”

Jackson made sure to call her daughter to share the news.

“I’m like we have something to show you and we just turned the camera around and she said ‘who’s kitty is that?’ I’m gonna cry, you could see it wash over her that it was Audrey.”

Audrey may have been in the wild before coming to the shelter, but her microchip is what brought her back to her family, along with Samantha Joles, a dedicated cat lover at Feline Fine.

“It’s so important for people who own pets to have a way to trace them back to their families, this family wanted their cat back they took her back with open arms,” Joles said.

Now Audrey is home for the holidays, with the sweetest gift, her best friend.

“It’s funny, you know, after a decade some of her little quirks and traits I didn’t remember, and now being with her again, I’m like, oh yeah, she loves some human food. She’s got the same little meows and her little nub,” Gabby Pessin said. “It’s like healing a little bit of my inner child to get her back for sure it’s been really sweet.”
