DAVID JONES WESH TWO NEWS. NOW TO THE LATEST ON A SCARE ON THE COURT FOR A MAGIC SUPERSTAR. SPORTS DIRECTOR DAREN STOLZFUS IS IN STUDIO NOW WITH AN UPDATE. DAREN. HEY THERE MICHELLE THE MAGIC! DEFINITELY GETTING GOOD NEWS TODAY ON FRANZ’S MRI. THERE’S NO DAMAGE TO HIS KNEE. INSTEAD, HE HAS A HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN. HE’S CERTAINLY GOING TO MISS SOME TIME, BUT IT IS NOT THE SEASON ENDING INJURY. IT LOOKED LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN. WAGNER WAS FOULED HARD ON THIS PLAY, BUT IMMEDIATELY, IMMEDIATELY GRABBED HIS KNEE WHEN HE COLLAPSED TO THE GROUND. THE HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN, THOUGH, IS THE OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS. HE MISSED EIGHT GAMES A COUPLE SEASONS AGO AFTER HE SPRAINED HIS OTHER ANKLE. BUT IF IT COMES DOWN TO PAIN TOLERANCE, I’M GUESSING HE WILL BE BACK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. HE’S BEEN PLAYING MOST OF THE SEASON WITH A MASK BECAUSE HE BROKE HIS NOSE IN A GAME AGAI

A left ankle sprain is expected to sideline Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner, the team announced on Monday. Wagner suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s 106-100 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. An MRI showed there was no damage to his knee, and that it’s a high ankle sprain. While it is a serious injury, it’s not the season-ending injury it looked like it could have been. It’s unclear how long Wagner will be out, saying it will depend on how he responds to treatment. Wagner has had ankle issues in the past, missing eight games after spraining his other ankle. The Magic hosts the Miami Heat on Tuesday in the NBA Cup quarter-final at the Kia Center.
