According to an email sent out by M-DCPS Division of Athletics & Activities’ Principal on Assignment Javi Perez, today’s afternoon South Florida high school football matchup has been canceled due to a forfeit.

Per the email sent out by Perez to media members, the contest between Miami Sunset Senior and Hialeah-Miami Lakes was confirmed as canceled due to a forfeit by the Trojans.

The Trojans were 3-4 on the season with multiple victories, including a win over Miami Coral Park, 22-8, back on Sep. 11. It was looking like a turnaround season for Hialeah-Miami Lakes as they had gone winless the previous two seasons.

Last time the Trojans were at the .500 mark or above was in 2014 when they went 6-5.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes latest game was a 43-0 loss to John A. Ferguson Senior last week on Friday and still have one remaining game on the schedule against Hialeah Gardens on Oct. 23.

Amongst the notable alumni that have played at Hialeah-Miami Lakes are players like former NFL’ers Devin Bush Sr., running back Armando Allen and quarterback Rohan Davey.

Miami Sunset Senior (1-5) has also had a trying season on the field as their lone win also came against Coral Park back on Oct. 3, a 14-12 decision. The Knights get a unexpected bye week and look to return to action next Thursday on Oct. 23 when they are slated to take on G. Holmes Braddock Senior.
