The State Attorney’s Office announced a grand jury indictment Tuesday afternoon against a Hialeah man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in Lehigh Acres on Nov. 8.According to the State Attorney’s Office, the Lee County Grand Jury returned an indictment against 31-year-old Leosbey Cuesta de Armas on the charge of first-degree murder and first-degree burglary while armed.According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, de Armas is accused of breaking into a home that the victim, Zenaida Alvarez, was visiting to help her friends set up Christmas decorations and hiding in the pantry.When the victim went to grab something from the pantry, de Armas is accused of lunging out at her and stabbing her multiple times. LCSO said the victim died at the scene.On Nov. 9, LCSO said they tracked de Armas to Hardee County and contacted the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office.HCSO deputies pursued de Armas through Zolfo Springs, Wauchula, Bowling Green and Fort Meade. De Armas is accused of fleeing, and the chase entered Polk County, where Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies became involved in the pursuit, according to LCSO.The Florida Highway Patrol also assisted in the pursuit.The pursuit ended when de Armas crashed his truck into a light pole near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
