The Miami Hurricanes have struck gold two years in a row dipping into the NCAA transfer portal to find a starting quarterback.

And with Carson Beck graduating and heading to the NFL, expect the team to go to that well once more to find another starting QB.

After four years with the Georgia Bulldogs, Beck transferred to Miami after striking a $4 million NIL deal with the school. In 12 games, the 23-year-old threw for 3,072 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while leading the Hurricanes to 10 wins and an appearance in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Miami currently has four other QBs on its roster including sophomore Emory Williams and four-star freshman Luke Nickel, and the team signed three-star Dereon Coleman in its 10th-ranked 2026 recruiting class.

But the caliber of passers reportedly set to hit the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2 — a group that could include Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt, Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby, Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles, North Texas’ Drew Mestemaker, and Notre Dame’s Kenny Minchey — may be too good for Miami to pass up.

But there may be one signal-caller that makes more sense for Miami than any other — Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola, who many analysts believe will hit the transfer portal in January.

Multiple reports have named Miami as a possible landing spot for Raiola should he hit the portal, though it may have some competition from other top schools including LSU, Missouri, Oregon, Penn State, USC.

The 20-year-old passer was the No. 2-ranked quarterback and No. 7 overall recruit in the class of 2024. In two seasons with the Cornhuskers, Raiola has thrown for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, but head coach Matt Rhule has failed to build a competitive team around him.

Given the Hurricanes’ willingness to spend big on a QB (see Beck), it wouldn’t be surprising to see the sophomore signal-caller in Coral Gables in 2026.
