Orlando City’s offseason roster reload is in full swing. The Lions traded versatile midfielder/fullback Dagur Dan Thorhallsson to CF Montreal, the team announced on Wednesday. Orlando will receive $500,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money, as well as up to $125,000 in GAM as an add-on. Orlando City will retain a sell-on percentage in the event of a future transfer of the player. “Dagur has been an incredible professional for us over the past three seasons,” said Orlando City general manager & sporting director Ricardo Moreira. “His dedication to the team, ability to embrace our culture, and knack for bringing every group together made him a joy to have in our locker room. We’re grateful for everything he’s given to the club and wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter of his career.”Thorhallsson, 25, played a pivotal role for the Lions during the 2024 season, with coach Oscar Pareja deploying the Icelandic player as a right back. But a breakout year for Alex Freeman in that position relegated Thorhallsson’s role in 2025, going from 29 games starting the year before to 11 games starting this past season. Thorhallsson leaves Orlando with 116 appearances in all competitions since joining in 2023. The move comes a day after Orlando City traded homegrown defender Thomas Williams to Nashville SC in exchange for the No. 20 overall pick in this month’s MLS SuperDraft. The Lions will also acquire up to $100,000 in GAM as an add-on bonus.
