ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Magic signed free-agent guard Javonte Smart and free-agent forward Phillip Wheeler to contracts, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced Monday.

Terms of their deals were not announced.

To make room on the 21-player preseason roster, Orlando waived guards Jalen Crutcher and Alex Morales.

Smart played in 32 regular-season games last season with the Osceola Magic, Orlando’s NBA G League team, and averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.13 steals per game and shot 37.3% from 3-point range. He also has played in 18 career NBA regular-season games with thee Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game. He also has played with NBA G League teams in Sioux Falls, S.D.; Birmingham, Ala; and Delaware.

Wheeler played in five games with the 76ers last season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game. He also has played in 48 career NBA G League regular-season games (21 starts) with Rio Grande Valley, Iowa, Mexico City, Maine and Texas.

Crutcher appeared in one preseason game with Orlando, tallying three points in five minutes. He was originally signed as a free agent on Oct. 5. Morales appeared in two preseason games with Orlando, averaging 7.5 points., 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 15.1 minutes per game. He was originally signed as a free agent on Sept. 25.
