Florida A&M University’s band rehearsal hall, which is home to the Marching 100, was renamed on Thursday to honor alumni Bernard and Shirley Kinsey.

The ceremony celebrated their decades-long work to preserve African American history and their investments toward education and the arts.
The Kinseys have also received honorary doctorates from the university.

“We got married on campus, our reception was right at the student union building, 58 years ago. I mean c’mon, you can’t make this up. What a homecoming,” Bernard Kinsey said.
