TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Former prosecutor, FDLE legal advisor and Leon County Judge Jason L. Jones is returning to his first courtroom in Jefferson County, this time as a circuit judge, according to a press release.
Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Jones on July 10, 2025, as a Jefferson County Circuit Judge, per the news release.
Jones is no stranger to Jefferson County courtrooms, as starting in 2004, he spent three and a half years as an assistant state attorney and then chief state attorney in Jefferson Co.

Jones then served in the Gadsden and Leon County State Attorney’s Offices and later was an FDLE legal advisor turned General Counsel.
Jones said this is a full-circle moment for him.
“Twenty-one years ago, I started my legal career in Jefferson County. I found out that I passed the bar there, was sworn in as an attorney there, and practiced there for three years,” he said. “I am truly blessed to return to a community that did so much for me so early in my career.”
