CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A Cape Coral mother said her young son was trapped inside a porta-potty at a construction site after two other children blocked the door with cinder blocks in what she believes started as a prank but quickly turned dangerous.
Mallory Cole said her son was approached by two kids Monday evening at home near a construction site on Southwest Fifth Avenue. She said they invited him to play, and dared him to go into a portable toilet.
“They were like, ‘We want to be friends, do you want to come play with us?’ And so he did,” Cole said. “They proceeded to stack a bunch of cinder blocks in front of the door and he couldn’t get out.”
Cole said her son had his phone and was able to call her for help. When she arrived, she forced the door open while her son pushed from the inside.
“There was a piece of wood there, and I just jerked it open. He was pushing on it, too,” she said. “I was very angry.”
Cole contacted Cape Coral police, who took a report and spoke with her son to reassure him. No injuries were reported.
Cole said she does not plan to press charges but hopes the children involved — and their parents — understand the seriousness of the incident.
“That is malicious and possibly dangerous,” she said. “I hope the parents help their kids realize that this is not OK.”
Cole said she simply hopes no other family has to go through a similar experience.
