South Florida has some of the country’s most expensive luxury real estate. As affluent buyers continue to move north of Miami in search of privacy, larger parcels, and a more quiet lifestyle, the migration is driving interest in smaller coastal areas like Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Hillsboro Beach, among others. Hillsboro Beach in particular has proven itself a serious player in Florida’s broader luxury real estate landscape, with record-breaking single-family listings.
Just 13 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, Hillsboro Beach is a three-mile-long narrow barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway and is almost entirely residential. Anchoring the island is Hillsboro Mile, an exclusive neighborhood of multi-million-dollar oceanfront estates that attract high-net-worth buyers drawn to its seclusion and stature as a residential-only area.

The town’s current most expensive listing recently hit the market for $60 million in Hillsboro Mile, represented by Chad Carroll of the Chad Carroll Group at Compass. The modern estate was purchased by the sellers in 2021, the same year it was built. Though it was a newly built home at the time, the sellers embarked on an extensive years-long renovation, tapping Florida-based Sabrina Rose Interiors.
“This is a once-in-a-generation estate in a league of its own,” says real estate agent Chad Carroll. “Opportunities like this almost never come to market. This is a rare stretch of prime South Florida waterfront.”

The property is one of the largest in Hillsboro Beach, with unique dual access to the Intracoastal Waterway on one side of the home and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It sits on 2.35 acres, and included in the sale is more than an acre of buildable land for future development, should the next owner want to build a guest home, sports court, wellness facility, a putting green, or additional entertainment amenities. For added insurance, the property sits 16 feet above sea level and has a newly built seawall.
The backyard has a pool, spa, and multiple lounging areas.

Built with a contemporary architectural style inside and out, the 10,101-square-foot home features clean lines, oversized windows and sliding glass doors, and an open floor plan that welcomes natural light and nature views. There are seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and one powder room spread across three floors. No room was an afterthought; the show-stopping double-height living room features a tall, onyx-clad fireplace, while the sleek kitchen is primed for cooking with ample prep space and a waterfall marble island. Even the powder room is crafted from Crystallo marble.
There’s nearly every amenity imaginable, like a professional-grade tiered theater, fitness room, an eight-car showroom-caliber garage, and two primary bedrooms with boutique-style closets and private offices. There’s also a pool, spa, and summer kitchen, as well as multiple outdoor seating areas. The property is ensconced by manicured, lush grounds that make it feel like you’re living within a private resort. There’s also a private beach path that leads to the ocean, while the Intracoastal side has a new dock.

“The existing residence is a sprawling compound with a level of sophistication and craftsmanship that speaks directly to today’s high-end buyer,” Carroll says.
Though the town has been growing for more than a decade, it most notably made headlines in 2018 when an estate in Hillsboro Mile neighborhood, called Playa Vista Isle, listed for a lofty $159 million. With little buyer interest at that price point, it ultimately went to auction where it sold for $42.5 million. As for this on-the-market estate, if sold at $60 million, it will set a record as the town’s priciest real estate transaction.
