The Miami Hurricanes ended their season with a tremendous and well-deserved reward as a team after going 10-2 for the second straight regular season. For the first time in program history, the Hurricanes are bound for the College Football Playoff, squaring off against Texas A&M next Saturday at noon in College Station.
However, the rewards for a terrific season didn’t stop there. A number of Miami standouts were honored individually last week as All-Americans by multiple outlets.

The Walter Camp Award is the nation’s oldest All-American team, and Miami’s two best linemen in Rueben Bain, Jr. and Francis Mauigoa earned first-team honors.
CBS Sports had five Canes on their All-American teams. Mauigoa and James Brockermeyer earned first-team nods, with Bain, Keionte Scott, and Malachi Toney earning second-team honors (not sure how you give Bain second-team honors with a straight face, but whatever).
On3 Sports also had Bain as a second teamer, with Mauigoa earning first team honors. Jakobe Thomas also made it on the second team with Bain. I’m glad to see someone give Thomas his flowers, as he has been awesome this year after coming over from Tennessee after the 2024 season. He deserves more praise.

Sports Illustrated put out their teams, and Bain didn’t make first or second team, which is absolutely stupid. Mauigoa was a first teamer and Toney was on the second team.
The big one is still yet to come with the AP team dropping. We’ll find out then if Bain can get his due – I have a feeling that too many people are stat reading and looking at stats with him – but I fully expect to see Mauigoa get the nod on the first team.
In any event, congrats to everyone for said honors. Very well earned.
Go Canes!
