Noah Grubbs hits Gavin Isaacs for a 9-yard touchdown pass. The Rams earn the two-point conversion with a Barrett Schulz pass to Terrance Dixon. Lake Mary pulls within 27–19 with 11:14 left in the game.

Headed to the fourth quarter in Miami with Lake Mary trailing Vero Beach 27–11.  Lake Mary’s threatening with a 2nd-and-goal goal at the 9 yard line.

Vero Beach answers Lake Mary Mary score with a touchdown by Efrem White from the 1-yard line. Scoring drive highlighted by Jonathan Hillsman 69 yard run. Vero leads 27–7 after missed extra point.

Finally some action in a penalty-filled third quarter. Noah Grubbs hits Barrett Schulz for a 35-yard touchdown pass. Lake Mary pulls within 21–11 of Vero Beach after two-point conversion by Grubbs. Two minutes left in the third quarter.

It’s halftime and Vero Beach leads 21-3.

Vero Beach defensive back Jordan Crutchfield, who is headed to FSU, has been a thorn in the side of Lake Mary quarterback Noah Grubbs. The Lake Mary signee has been picked off twice by Crutchfield in the first half.

Champ Monds hits Xavier Stinson with a 50-yard touchdown pass and Vero now leads Lake Mary 21-3, three minutes left in the half.

Lake Mary quarterback Noah Grubbs is intercepted by Jordan Crutchfield again, this time in the end zone and Vero Beach takes over the 20.

Lake Mary’s Sam Nelson sacks Vero Beach quarterback Champ Monds on fourth down. Lake Mary’s takes over possession. The second quarter has begun.

Terrence Dixon can’t hang on to a potential 46-yard touchdown pass and Lake Mary punts.

Nothing doing on Vero’s second drive and the Indians punt.

Vero Beach answers Lake Mary score as quarterback Champ Monds hits Efrem White with an 80-yard touchdown pass. Indians league 7–3, 6:50 left in the first quarter.

Lucas Parker hits a 32-yard field goal and Lake Mary takes a 3–0 lead over Vero Beach.

Jones quarterback Dereon Coleman did all he could to get Jones High a state championship Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers fell short against American Heritage 33-28.

Now it’s Lake Mary quarterback Noah Grubbs turn as the Rams take on Vero Beach in the Class 7A state title game at 7:30 at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of FIU.

BOth quarterback have been on similar missions their entire senior seasons. The end is nearly here for the high school careers of the best two quarterbacks in the Orlando area. Never before have there been two elite Orlando-area quarterbacks sign with Power 4 programs in the same class. Coleman has signed with Miami and Grubbs with Notre Dame.

They ended their junior years with the same bad taste in their mouths. Grubbs and Lake Mary lost to Venice in last year’s Class 7A state championship game, 52-19. Coleman and Jones lost that nightmare of a game against Plantation American Heritage in the 4A state championship game, 40-31.

Now it’s Grubbs turn to try an gain his redemption.
