It happened again. Jacksonville is on a lucky streak.
For the second time in less than a month, a person who bought a Powerball ticket in Jacksonville is $1 million richer.
The ticket sold at a Publix in Jacksonville matched five numbers in the Oct. 15 drawing to win $1 million. Another ticket sold in Jacksonville, for the Sept. 29 drawing, also won $1 million.

There was one other $1 million winner in Wednesday’s drawing; the ticket was sold in Kentucky.
The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after nobody matched all the numbers and the Powerball in the Oct. 15 drawing. The jackpot is now at an estimated $295 million for the next drawing on Saturday, Oct. 18.

In the Sept. 29 drawing, another $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold at Golden Ox Liquors on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville.

According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states, the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
