JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – If you’re wondering whether this is the weekend to get outside in Jacksonville, my answer is: absolutely yes! We’re heading into a truly beautiful stretch, and you can expect plenty of sunshine pretty much everywhere you go.
Right now, temperatures are feeling comfortable—think highs reaching the low 80s in Jacksonville, with mid-70s closer to the coast. This mellow mood carries through today and tomorrow. It’s the kind of weather that will keep your hair straight, your mood bright, and your plans easy.
If you’re planning to catch some varsity high school football tonight, look for temperatures in the 70s at kickoff, dipping into the 60s by the end of the game. No need to worry about rain delays or chilly air sneaking in. Be sure to cheer on your team—I hope you get the W!
Small rain chance with weekend front
We do have a little weather wrinkle on the horizon. There’s a weak cold front expected to move through late Sunday into Monday, bringing only a 20% chance of showers. Most of the moisture looks likely to break up before reaching us, so impacts will probably be minimal.
Once the front moves out, high pressure will settle back in, which means dry, sunny days will continue as we start the new week. Highs are forecast to hover in the 80s, and lows in the 60s—perfect for any plans you’ve set up.
High rip current risk
If a beach trip is on your weekend agenda, I’ve got to add a little caution: the rip current risk is high along the coast right now. Surf heights are expected to be in the 2 to 3 foot range, which is great for soaking up the sun but could make swimming a little risky.
If you hit the sand, keep an eye out for warning flags and swim near lifeguards. Enjoy that beautiful weather, but let’s all play it safe!
