As we continue to keep a wary eye on a tropical wave approaching the Caribbean, get ready for a cold front to move into Florida this weekend.

Some areas across the Panhandle and North Florida could see temperatures drop more than 10 degrees, into the upper 50s or low 60s over the weekend. Elsewhere, low temps are forecast to drop into the 60s, except in South Florida, where lows are expected to be in the 70s.

Don’t expect the lower temps to carry over during the day, though. Daytime highs are forecast to be in low to mid 80s, with some areas potentially hitting 90 degrees.

In areas experiencing drought conditions, especially the central Panhandle, don’t expect much help from the approaching cold front.

The National Weather Service Tallahassee said about 0.25 inches of rain are expected Sunday, Oct. 19, with the arrival of the front, not enough to help the severe to extreme drought conditions in the area.
