Chad Scott might not be out of the Southeastern Conference for very at all.

Dismissed last week by Texas and Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian, the former University of Kentucky running back Scott has emerged as an intriguing candidate for multiple Power Conference programs, multiple sources tell FootballScoop.

Specifically, multiple sources on Monday tell FootballScoop that Scott has emerged as a candidate to fill the running backs coaching vacancy at the University of Florida under new Gators head coach Jon Sumrall and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner.

Per sources, Scott was scheduled to meet in person with Faulker and Florida offensive coaches in Gainesville, Florida.

He’s coached in his career at Texas, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky and Texas Tech.

Sumrall and Faulkner have been meeting and speaking with a number of candidates including Derrick Nix (who is also being pursued by Alabama and others). Tim Harris Jr has been mentioned as a potential candidate as well.

Sumrall and Faulkner are quickly piecing together a strong inaugural Florida Gators coaching staff, especially on the offensive side of the ball. FootballScoop Offensive Coordinator of the Year Faulker was the first major domino for Sumrall, who also has since added former Gators great and budding star offensive line coach Phil Trautwein into the mix after Trautwein’s decorated run at Penn State.

The Gators also are forming a potent arsenal of senior analysts, assistant position coaches and quality control coaches, many from Georgia Tech and also with deep coaching experience throughout the South.
