TAMPA, Fla. — Part of the Howard Frankland Bridge is closing overnight due to construction.

The northbound lanes will have to detour off the interstate using Gandy Boulevard at Exit 28 from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews are installing overhead sign structures as part of the new southbound I-275 bridge project between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.

Officials said message boards and temporary signs will help drivers traveling around the closure with the posted detour route of Roosevelt Boulevard, Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway.

Drivers should allow for extra travel time for potential delays and traffic congestion.

The southbound travel lanes will not be affected by the temporary closure.
