A Miami man arrested for murder more than three years ago is facing another murder charge in connection with a 2020 killing, records showed.

Alfonso Lamar, 34, was arrested in April of 2022 on first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges, records showed.

On Monday, he was charged with another count of first-degree murder.

According to an arrest report, the new charge stems from a Sept. 17, 2020 shooting that happened in the area of Northwest 21st Avenue and Northwest 80th Street.

Lamar allegedly traveled to the area, pulled out a Glock firearm and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing, the report said.

The victim, who wasn’t named in the report, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lamar was arrested days later for an unrelated domestic disturbance in Miramar, and at the time he was in possession of a Glock firearm, the report said.

Casings from the murder scene were compared with the firearm, and it was determined it was the same firearm that was used in the murder, the report said.

Cellphone records also showed Lamar’s phone was in close proximity to the murder scene at the time of the killing, the report said.

Lamar has remained in jail since his April 2022 arrest in the unrelated killing.
