STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A 22-year-old man is in custody after Stuart police say he tried to message a “13-year-old girl” who was really an undercover officer.
Officers with the Stuart Police Department (SPD) say they issued a warrant for 22-year-old William Rogers of Live Oak for transmission of harmful material to a minor and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony on November 25.
Police say the counts stem from an undercover sting in October.

During the investigation, police say Rogers sent multiple selfies and inappropriate videos to who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover Stuart officer.
One day after the warrant was approved, officials say Rogers was arrested by the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.
