UCF Homecoming’s “Comedy Knight” brought hundreds of students together on Wednesday night at Addition Financial Arena for a night of humor, music and community.
The event featured headliner Karlous Miller, known for his work on “Wild’ N Out,” with comedian Chris Jones as the opener. They also had a a DJ before the performance to hype the crowd up.
Destiny Daniels, a freshman forensic science major, said she came to the event to have fun and connect with her community on campus.
“I was just looking for something fun and wanted to show school spirit, so I came. My first homecoming,” Daniels said.
Daniels highlighted the importance of these recreational spaces for students.
“It shows the UCF community as a whole and also just allows students to have fun instead of being so academically focused,” Daniels said. “We can learn to have both.”
The audience reacted enthusiastically to Karlous Miller’s routines, which are known for their direct style and constant interaction with the audience.
Among the most excited was Sebastian Torres, a junior computer science major, who didn’t want to miss this edition after being unable to attend last year, proclaiming himself a big fan of the comedian.
“I’ve seen so many episodes. I knew exactly the type of show I was walking into,” Torres said. “I tried to show up early. I got floor seats, so I got to sit right at the front. And just the way he does the crowd work, I just laugh my ass off every single minute.”
Torres said the role of these events within the university is to come together.
“It kind of has us all come together to one central event,” Torres said. “It’s just another way to make new friends and kind of bond as a school and as a community.”
