Some are calling it an overall positive impact; one that benefits efforts to help so many people affected by cancer as well as business owners like J. Henry, who share that events at Camping World Stadium bring great exposure to his community.
“People that normally don’t visit this part of town and people from out of state come to the game,” Henry said. “They come by the barbershop walking, the fans, and sometimes they may come in wanting to use the bathroom. Every now and then we get a couple that may decide they want to get a haircut.”
For more than 20 years, Henry has operated J. Henry Barbershop on the corner of West Church St. He says the area gets a lot of foot traffic when big sporting events are happening downtown and a lot of the smaller businesses benefit because of location.
While the money is very important to keeping businesses running and the economy in Orlando flowing, Henry shared that he believes it’s also a good opportunity for people visit the areas they normally wouldn’t, and he assures that a safe family-friendly environment is a guarantee at J. Henry’s.
Whether you’re walking past the barbershop or catching free shuttles to the stadium, Henry says the game is sure to have a positive impact on the community. It also doubles as one of the biggest events hosted by the Orlando Sports Foundation that helps to raise money. The proceeds from the game help to support cancer research, having already raised more than $6 million since 2015.
Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as several roads will be blocked for the game. More parking information can be found here.
