OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday morning, three vehicles fatally struck a man in a wheelchair on Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee.
One of the vehicles fled the scene, but officials say they have found the driver in an updated email to the media.
At around 7:03 a.m., a 31-year-old Iowa man was in a wheelchair and was attempting to cross Orange Blossom Trail/U.S. 441 in the travel lanes and not in a crosswalk, stated the Florida Highway Patrol.
Three vehicles (a 2012 Kia Rio, a possible silver Lexus sedan and a 2012 Ford Taurus) were going northbound. As they were approaching Hilda Street, according to FHP, they struck the unidentified man in the wheelchair.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the Rio and Taurus stayed at the scene, but officials say the driver of the Lexus fled.
However, officials have found both the the Lexus, which, they say may have undercarriage damage, and the driver.
No information was given about the driver of the Lexus.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
