A Hialeah man is in jail after police say he used a sledgehammer to smash several slot-style gambling machines at a convenience store, reportedly angry over losing $3,800 earlier in the day. Investigators say he also grabbed a clerk, forced her to the back of the store, and locked her in a restroom before destroying the machines. The incident happened on Nov. 30, according to the arrest affidavit.
