JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A Jacksonville man has died after a crash that police believe was caused by a medical emergency.
Around 7:40 a.m. this morning, police were called to a collision at Western Boulevard and Huff Drive in Jacksonville.
According to officers, the medical crisis may have led to a crash involving two other vehicles, a tree, a drive-thru post, and a sign.
Authorities say they found 61-year-old Alan Estus unresponsive in his car and performed life-saving measures until emergency crews arrived. Estus was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Police say one of the cars involved was unoccupied, while the other was struck on its right side. A passenger in the occupied car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
