TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Chilly morning in the 30s, sunny and warming into the upper 60s–low 70s; much warmer through Christmas week.
🥶Cold Saturday wake-up:
This morning will be chilly across North Florida and South Georgia with temperatures in the 30s, thanks to high pressure overhead. The “big blue H” will keep skies sunny throughout your day.
So as you head out the door this morning, be sure to bring a jacket and sunglasses. Temperatures warm quickly into the 60s by lunchtime and into the upper 60s to near 70 by the afternoon, making it a great day to get out and about.
🌑Staying chilly tonight:
Tonight will cool off fast after sunset, falling through the 40s and into the 30s overnight under mostly clear skies. Moisture will return overnight into Sunday, creating the potential for patchy, locally dense fog at daybreak that should burn off quickly.
❄️The first day of winter:
Sunday is the winter solstice. The season officially begins at 10:03 a.m. It will not feel like winter, however, it will be another beautiful day with plenty of sun and highs in the low 70s.
A weak cold front will pass through the southeast on Sunday afternoon. The front will increase winds overnight and into Monday. North/northeast winds 10 to 15, with gusts up to 20 mph.
🌡️Christmas week warmth:
Much of Christmas week looks warmer than average, roughly 5 to 10 degrees above normal and abundant sunshine.
Winds will be a bit breezy on Monday, keeping temperatures in the upper 60s for most of the day.
High pressure develops once again over North Florida and South Georgia on Tuesday and will continue to strengthen, leading to gradual warming through the end of Christmas week.
Christmas Eve should be sunny and mild with highs in the mid-70s and overnight lows in the upper 40s.
Christmas Day is expected to be similar. Near record warmth, but not likely to break the 82°F record set in 2016. Conditions look quiet beyond Christmas for the following weekend.
