MIAMI — A man who had been shot crashed into a pedestrian in Hialeah while trying to drive himself to the hospital early Saturday morning, Miami police said.

Officers say the incident began near West First Avenue and 38th Street, where the shooting occurred. What led up to the gunfire remains under investigation.

They said the wounded man got behind the wheel and attempted to drive himself for medical help, but only made it a few blocks. Investigators say he struck a pedestrian on West 32nd Street before coming to a stop.

Both the driver and the pedestrian were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Their ages, identities and conditions have not been released.

Police say the investigation remains active and it’s still unclear whether any arrests have been made.
