In just over a month, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers went from being traded from the Raiders to the Jacksonville Jaguars to earning a three-year contract extension.

According to reports, this is a deal worth $60 million and includes $40 million guaranteed.

Before this deal, Meyers was set to be a free agent during the upcoming offseason.

The extension speaks for itself, but Meyers’ impact on this Jaguars‘ team was immediate.

“I probably haven’t had this much belief behind me in a long time,” Meyers said. “I played a lot of football with a lot of hate and anger and just to be out there and play for people who believe in you and prove them right, it’s a whole different feeling.”

In a Jaguars’ receiver room that struggled with drops through the first half of the season, Meyers’ sure-handedness provided stability.

He’s also an excellent fit for the Liam Coen offense with his ability to help in the run game as a blocker and to attack the intermediate and middle parts of the field.

Among all wideouts since Week 10, when Meyers joined the Jaguars, he ranks 12th in receiving yards and 10th in yards per route run, according to PFF.

After the deal was made official, Coen noted how quickly Meyers developed rapport with Trevor Lawrence and how beloved he is in the Jaguars’ locker room.
