Cape Coral is lighting up the waterways with the 49th Annual Holiday Boat-A-Long, an event that has brought holiday cheer to the community for decades.

This beloved tradition draws families, friends, and boaters from all over Southwest Florida.

“It’s a long-standing tradition here in Cape Coral,” said Todd King, City of Cape Coral Special Events Coordinator. “The boats all light up Bimini Bay and beautiful Christmas colors. And we just think it’s one of the most spectacular events we do here at the city, and it really gets everybody in the right spirit and mind, neighbor, neighbor, holidays, family.”

The event features live entertainment, local food trucks, and a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, offering a festive way for families to kick off the holiday season. The highlight of the night is the holiday boat parade.

“We did this one last year, and so we had such a great time, we’re doing it again,” said Paul Pierret, who is participating in the boat show.

Boats cruise through the Bimini Basin and South Cape canals, decorated with everything from candy canes to festive alligators.

“We’ve got an inflatable snowman dancing on the front,” Pierret added.

Community members line the shoreline and park beach, many bringing lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the view.

“I think it’s kind of nice,” said Diana Urso, who lives in Fort Myers. “I mean, I think that this is a nice venue. I’m impressed with the park, and people can just sit here and enjoy.”

After the parade, the celebration continues with a free outdoor movie in the park, wrapping up a night full of holiday cheer.

“It’s a great thing to do with the family and get out and see the boats,” Pierret said. “It’s about the only place in Cape Coral that you can see it for free, right here at Four Freedoms Park.”

“I just think it’s something fun families can do to get ready for this beautiful week coming up as we head into the Christmas week,” King said.

Whether you’re watching from the shore or sailing by, the Holiday Boat-A-Long is lighting up Cape Coral and bringing the community together.
