ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The second man involved in a shooting in Royal Palm Beach has died, and both men have now been identified on Friday as employees of Palm Beach County’s Engineering and Public Works Department.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said the shooting happened just before 5 p.m. on Oct. 14, on Starling Avenue, off Bobwhite Road. Deputies arrived to find two vehicles stopped in the same direction — one in the road and the other on the swale. One man was already dead, and another was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

PBSO has identified the victim as John Myers, 63, of Royal Palm Beach. He passed away from his injuries on Thursday evening. The suspect, who died at the scene, has been identified as Randy Parnell, 65, of West Palm Beach.

According to Palm Beach County Public Affairs, both men were employees in the county’s Engineering and Public Works Department. Myers served as an Assistant Public Works Superintendent in the Road and Bridge Division, while Parnell worked as a Bridgetender.

Myers had been employed with Palm Beach County since October 9, 1984. Parnell joined the county on May 25, 2015.

Both were active employees at the time of their deaths, the county told CBS12 News on Friday.
