Quick thoughts from South Florida Sun Sentinel staffers on the Dolphins’ blowout loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Hard Rock Stadium in rookie QB Quinn Ewers’ first start as Miami fell to 6-9:

Dave Hyde, Columnist

A lost season looking for some hopeful answers only got more questions. Quinn Ewers? This defense that allowed touchdowns on five consecutive Cincinnati possessions? And what’s wrong with adjustments as they have the league’s worst third-quarter point differential?

Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist

The Quinn Ewers experience didn’t turn out well for the Dolphins or Ewers. Miami might be back to the drawing board in finding a quarterback for next week and next year. Beyond that, the Dolphins had costly turnovers, coverage busts and other issues. It wasn’t a good day.

David Furones, Dolphins Writer

As soon as one thing went wrong — that offensive pass interference call that took away a big gain — the Dolphins unraveled. Quinn Ewers’ first half offered the impression he was up to the task in his first start, but he could never recover once things went downhill. The defense didn’t help out his cause either.

Oooh. It had been a little while since seeing the Dolphins play a game that had no bearing on making the playoffs (almost four years). That was an atrocity. Now, 6-11 is legitimately in play.

Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor

Man, where was THAT game against the Bengals in 2019? A letdown after being eliminated from the postseason could have been expected, but the defense getting carved up that completely was still shocking.
