A 48-year-old Oviedo man died on Saturday evening after the motorcycle he was riding crashed near an intersection in Orange County.
Shortly after 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, the rider was traveling eastbound on Silver Star Road in Orlando, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The report stated that when the motorcycle approached the intersection of Silver Star Road and Mercy Drive, its rider lost control of the vehicle.
Moments later, the motorcycle struck a curb, and the impact caused the rider to be thrown off the vehicle.
The rider was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
A trooper noted in the report that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
