The Jacksonville Jaguars snapped the Denver Broncos‘ 11-game winning streak on Sunday with a 34-20 upset win at Empower Field at Mile High. Jacksonville improved to 11-4 with the victory and Denver dropped to 12-3.
It started as a defensive struggle early as Denver’s defense forced two sacks and a pair of three-and-outs. After Broncos kicker Wil Lutz missed a 44-yard field goal attempt, the Jaguars took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter when quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to receiver Parker Washington.
Denver matched that score on the ensuing drive when quarterback Bo Nix threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton to tie the game at 7-7 in the second quarter.
After the defense stopped a Jacksonville drive with their third sack of the game, Lutz later converted a 54-yard field goal attempt to give the Broncos a 10-7 lead. The Jaguars topped that when Lawrence threw a three-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brenton Strange to make it 14-10. Jacksonville later added a field goal to take a 17-10 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Denver went 73 yards on four plays and rookie running back RJ Harvey scored on a 38-yard run to tie the game at 17-17.

The Jaguars retook the lead nine plays later when Lawrence rushed for a touchdown after cornerback Jahdae Barron was penalized for pass interference in the end zone, setting up the one-yard score to make it 24-17. The Broncos had a failed trick play on their ensuing drive when Nix underthrew Courtland Sutton, ultimately leading to a punt. Jacksonville later extended the lead to 31-17 after Lawrence threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Etienne.
Nix and running back Jaleel McLaughlin had a bad exchange on an option run on Denver’s next drive and the Jaguars recovered the resulting fumble. A Que Robinson sack stalled that Jacksonville possession and the Jags were forced to settle for a field goal to make it 34-17 with 13:36 remaining in the game.
The Broncos got down to the nine-yard line on the next series after Nix threw a 48-yard pass to Troy Franklin, but the drive stalled and Denver settled for a 21-yard Lutz field goal to make it 34-20. After the defense forced a three-and-out, Nix threw an interception midway through the fourth quarter, a crucial giveaway that essentially killed the team’s comeback hopes.
On the injury front, tight end Nate Adkins and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell both left in the second quarter with knee injuries and did not return. Adkins was ruled out in the second quarter and DTY was ruled out after halftime. Denver linebacker Dre Greenlaw was also ruled out with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter, and rookie receiver Pat Bryant also took a hard hit on one of the final plays of the game and was carted off the field. Sean Payton said after the game that Bryant has movement in his hands and legs, which is a good early sign.
After losing to the Jaguars, the Broncos will now go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a special Christmas Day edition of Thursday Night Football in Week 17.
