The Magic are converting Colin Castleton’s Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal with the franchise, a league source told the Orlando Sentinel on Friday night.

Castleton joins center Orlando Robinson and forward Jamal Cain as the Magic’s third two-way player, filling up the last such deal that allows players to go between the NBA and G League throughout the season.

The former Florida Gator was one of five players to join the Magic on an Exhibit 10 contract ahead of the start of training camp including guards Reece Beekman and Lester Quinones and forwards Justin Minaya and Alex Morales.

The Magic have since waived Minaya and Morales while briefly signing guards Johnell Davis and Jalen Crutcher, who were both eventually waived. Orlando also recently signed guard Javonte Smart and forward Phillip Wheeler to Exhibit 10 deals.

An Exhibit 10 is a one-year deal worth the minimum league salary that guarantees a player will receive a training camp invite. It also allows NBA teams to convert a player’s deal into a two-way contract before the start of the season. Teams are allowed to carry up to 21 players during the offseason.

Although the Exhibit 10 deal doesn’t initially include protected compensation, it does provide bonuses if a player signs with a team’s G League affiliate and remains with the club for 60 days. The bonus ranges between $5,000 and $85,300 this year.

Ultimately, it was Castleton who earned Orlando’s third two-way spot. Mike Scotto of HoopsHype first reported the plan to convert his contract.

Two-way contracts allow teams to carry three extra players in addition to the 15 on their regular-season roster. Those players will go between the NBA and G League, but they’re limited to 50 NBA games.

The 6-foot-11 center from DeLand is a familiar face for the Magic organization. Castleton appeared in 17 G League games with Osceola last season. Across two years, he’s played in 42 NBA games, including 26 last season with Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia.

This preseason with the Magic, Castleton averaged 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 rebounds per game during 6.4 minutes in 2 exhibitions.

Last year with Osceola, he averaged 17.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, a steal and 1.1 blocks per game during 29.2 minutes in 17 contests.
