JACKIE. >> JACK, THE DESPERATE SEARCH FOR THE 2 BOATERS CONTINUES THIS MORNING AFTER THEY’VE BEEN MISSING FOR MORE THAN 48 HOURS IN THE SEARCH EFFORTS ARE EXPANDING ON FRIDAY MORNING. 57 YEAR-OLD RANDY SPIDEY AND HIS 33 YEAR-OLD NEPHEW BRANDON BILL MEYER SET OFF FROM RANDY’S DOG ON A FISHING TRIP ON THIS. 42 FOOT FREEMAN VOTE. THEY WERE REPORTED MISSING AROUND 09:00PM FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN THEY DID NOT RETURN HOME THAT AFTERNOON WHEN THEY WERE EXPECTED, THEN AROUND ONE 30 SATURDAY MORNING. THE U.S. COAST GUARD SAYS THEY RECOVERED THEIR EMPTY BOAT ABOUT 70 MILES OFF THE COAST. STILL RUNNING, FAMILY MEMBERS SAY THE SEARCH EFFORTS WILL HAVE UPDATED COORDINATE GRIDS FOR TODAY’S SEARCH AROUND 8 THIS MORNING. BOTH WILL DEPART FROM FORT MYERS DOWN TO MARCO ISLAND, FOCUSING 70 MILES WEST OF NAPLES. Volunteer pilots have also joined the search, taking private planes from Naples Airport to assist in locating the missing fishermen.Search coordinators have renewed hope after learning that they may have been wearing blue and yellow auto-inflate life jackets, which could increase their chances of survival.
