KISSIMMEE, Fla. (CBS12) — A mother from Fort Myers is behind bars after a shocking poolside confrontation at a hotel, where she allegedly retaliated against another child by forcibly dunking him underwater.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the Gaylord Palms Hotel pool on Friday at around 4:30 p.m. after receiving reports of battery involving a child.

Witnesses told deputies that three children were playing in the pool when the situation turned aggressive.

Officials say that Tiffany Lee Griffith, 36, became involved after her 6-year-old son was allegedly dunked underwater by a boy of the same age.

Griffith then reportedly entered the pool, confronted the boy, and forcibly dunked him underwater for several seconds.

The victim was apparently visibly shaken and suffering from a nosebleed, and reported the incident to his parents as soon as he exited the pool.

Following the altercation, Griffith reportedly yelled at the victim’s mother before leaving the area.

Deputies said that they located Griffith, who was subsequently arrested and accused of aggravated child abuse. She has since been booked into the Osceola County Jail.
