A bald eagle found grounded in Cape Coral is recovering at a Sanibel wildlife hospital after being diagnosed with a broken wing and lead poisoning.

According to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. (CROW), a volunteer responded to a call about the downed eagle and brought the bird to the organization’s Sanibel-based hospital. CROW said the eagle is responding well to chelation therapy for the lead poisoning, and the abrasions are healing. Because the wing fracture had already begun forming a callus, the team is now focused on physical therapy and stabilization to help preserve its range of motion.
