One person is dead after a Monday morning crash between a truck and a semi in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 5:53 a.m. on County Road 473 and Lake Eustis Drive in Leesburg, according to an FHP statement. A roadblock remained in place on both sides of on CR 473 as of 1 p.m.
The crash involved a 2005 Ford F-150 and a 2016 tractor trailer that had been traveling northbound on CR 473, but then began to back into a private driveway on the west side of the road across the southbound lanes of traffic.
The F-150 was traveling southbound on CR 473 in the outside lane and struck the trailer blocking the roadway.
The male driver of the F-150 was pronounced dead on the scene while a female passenger was transported to Orlando Health ORMC with non-life-threatening injuries, FHP stated.
Both the driver of the semi, a 67-year-old man, and passenger, a 63-year-old man, both of Arkansas, were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
