The annual Florida Legislative Session starts Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Tallahassee and runs for 60 days. State lawmakers in the Florida House and Senate have filed over a thousand bills, but not all of them will even be heard in committee.
Among the issues lawmakers may tackle — changes to local property taxes, how local governments manage development projects, school vaccine mandates, health care costs, and redrawing the congressional district map.
Like U.S. congressmen, everyone is assigned a Florida representative and senator based on where they live.
To find out who represents you in the Florida Legislature, the Florida House website has a search tool. It shows you your assigned federal and state districts based on just your address. You can click on the links to see who your lawmakers are.
Every lawmaker has a page on either the Florida House or Florida Senate website. The pages have biographical information, their committee assignments, what bills they are sponsoring, and contact information, along with the names of their main aides.
