ST. PETERSBURG — A 58-year-old St. Petersburg man was arrested after striking a pedestrian on Gandy Boulevard and fleeing, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

John Guy Delucchi was driving a Ford Crown Victoria west on Gandy Boulevard near 10387 Gandy Blvd. around 4:56 p.m. Dec. 17 when a 66-year-old St. Petersburg man tried to cross the road and walked into the vehicle’s path, according to FHP.

Delucchi hit the man and drove away, troopers said. He was later found in Plant City.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died, FHP said.

Delucchi was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, troopers said.
