Sixteen people were arrested on DUI charges during an overnight traffic enforcement operation that resulted in more than 230 citations, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The operation ran from 7 p.m. Dec. 20 to 5 a.m. Dec. 21 and involved deputies and officers from eight local agencies, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to the DUI arrests, authorities made 36 criminal charges, including two felony drug charges, three misdemeanor drug charges and two warrant arrests, the Sheriff’s Office said. Officers issued 233 citations, including 90 speeding tickets and 15 for driving with a suspended license.

The Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol and police from Kenneth City, Largo, Gulfport, St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs, Treasure Island and Clearwater participated.

The operation was dedicated to Marion Miller, who was killed by an impaired driver on April 5, 2023, in Dunedin, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Miller’s vehicle was struck by a driver who ran a red light at high speed while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, authorities said.
