According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies, after 12:56 a.m., arrived near the 100 block of Northwest 41st after receiving reports of a domestic incident

Deputies said they found the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Mario Alejandro Ramirez, suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury. They struggled with him as they tried to apply pressure to stop the bleeding.

Ramirez was eventually arrested, and he was taken to a local hospital by Oakland Park Fire Rescue. He faces charges of second-degree murder.

NBC6 cameras captured crime scene tape that blocked off the apartment complex.

A body was also seen covered in a blue tarp, was placed on a stretcher and put into a medical examiner’s van.

Neighbors who knew the woman and the suspect spoke with NBC6.

“I knew them!” said a neighbor. “She was a sweet lady, and he was a nice guy. My nephew played with the kids out here.”

A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified said he heard screaming and banging of furniture overnight.

“I heard they were arguing, and I heard a large fight,” the neighbor said.

As detectives continued with their investigation, neighbors told NBC6 what they saw.

“I see a body on the floor,” a neighbor said. “I was like, ‘What’s going on? Did they knock him out?’ But apparently somebody got stabbed in the neck. That’s all I know.”

“When they opened the door, I saw the people inside,” a neighbor said. “All the medical examiners, there aren’t any problems here, and this is a shocker to me.”
