A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was flown to the hospital after a Christmas Day high-speed chase ended in a violent crash along Interstate 95 in central Florida.
Officials say it started in Volusia County when a driver was spotted swerving and speeding, refusing to pull over.
The chase continued into Titusville, where both the suspect’s car and the patrol vehicle veered off the road and struck a guardrail.
The trooper was badly injured and was airlifted to the hospital. Authorities said he was awake and speaking, but more details on his injuries were not immediately provided.
The driver faces reckless charges, while the passenger in the car had an active warrant out of Broward County.
