West Palm Beach, FLA. (WPEC) — South Florida is enjoying a stretch of mostly dry weather, and that trend continues today. While a few quick-moving showers could pop up along the east coast, most of the region will stay dry and sunny.

Breezy conditions and beach hazards

Expect gusty easterly winds today, especially near the coast. These winds are being driven by a large area of high pressure moving into the western Atlantic, and they’re stirring up dangerous rip currents at all east coast beaches. If you’re heading to the shore, be cautious and swim near lifeguards.

Temperatures across the area will be in the low to middle 80s.

Minor coastal flooding possible

With onshore winds and a new moon approaching (which naturally boosts tide levels), minor flooding is possible along the east coast, especially within 1.5 to 2 hours of high tide. Low-lying areas near the coast and Intracoastal may see some water on roads or in yards.

A slight uptick in rain chances Sunday

While today and Saturday will stay mostly dry, Sunday could bring a few more showers, especially to the eastern half of South Florida. A weather system moving through Central Florida may help pull in some extra moisture, raising rain chances to 20–40%.

Even with the added clouds, temperatures will stay warm, with highs in the mid to upper 80s along the coasts and near 90F inland.

The Next Weather Maker: warm and mostly dry next week

Next week looks similar: mostly sunny skies, light winds, and above-average temperatures. A few isolated showers are possible, but no major rain events are expected. Highs will stay in the upper 80s to low 90s, making it feel more like late summer than mid-October.
