HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CBS12) — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman discovered early Friday morning on Hollywood Beach.

Hollywood Police Department officers responded to Cleveland Street and the sand shortly after 7 a.m. after a passerby reported finding the victim. Hollywood Fire Rescue pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Police described the victim as a woman, believed to be in her 40s or 50s. Her identity has not yet been released, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
