Multiple people were detained for questioning Friday night following a stabbing that left an older man dead, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after being found stabbed in the chest in the Moncrief Park neighborhood Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Patrol officers responded to the scene near the intersection of West 30th Street and Leonard Circle East around 3:30 p.m., JSO Sgt Rudlaff said in a news conference Friday night.
The victim is believed to be between 65 and 70 years old and was found with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead after surgery, Sgt. Rudlaff said.
First Coast News spotted investigators going in and out of a home on the residential street, which was blocked with crime scene tape. Few details of the actual incident were made available during the news conference as the investigation continued.
Although no suspect was immediately identified, Sgt. Rudlaff said multiple people were detained for questioning and that there is believed to be no further threat to the public.
