A Florida man is facing serious charges in Storey County after being extradited and booked in connection with a major fraud case in the Virginia City Highlands.
Detectives with the Storey County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation in May after a victim reported being swindled out of a significant amount of money. The victim told authorities that individuals claiming to be “FBI Agents” visited her home over several weeks, threatening arrest to coerce her into handing over cash.
Sheriff Deputies say an investigation identified two suspects from Florida, and nationwide warrants were issued. On October 16, Jeoffrey White, one of the suspects, was extradited from Florida back to Storey County.
He was booked into the Storey County Detention Facility, and a judge at the Virginia Township Justice Court set his bail at $200,000 following a detention hearing on October 17.
