Cigar City Brewing, founded in 2009 by Joey Redner in Tampa, will finally move into Ybor City, the original Cigar City.

The influential Tampa brewery said last month on its Instagram page that the lease is up in March 2026 at its location at 3924 W. Spruce St., Tampa.

“After 16 years, Cigar City Brewing is heading to the place that inspired it all!” the post said, alongside a mockup of a brewery and taproom sign that is jokingly doctored to read, “Finally in Ybor since 2026.”

It said its Spruce Street location, which also contains a taproom and restaurant, “will remain open, brewing and pouring, until March 2026.”

Redner in 2016 sold Cigar City to the owners of Oskar Blues; that group later became CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective, the Tampa Bay Times reported in 2022. CANarchy was sold to Monster Beverage Corp. in 2022.

The trade publication All About Beer reported that Cigar City Brewing is moving into Redner’s Cigar City Cider & Mead, at 1812 N 15th St. in Ybor.

Cigar City is best known for its flagship India pale ale, Jai Alai, a citrusy, bold American-style IPA.

Cigar City also operates taprooms at 375 Channelside Drive in Benchmark International Arena and at 4100 George J. Bean Parkway inside Tampa International Airport.
