WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has another title to add to his resume: gender-reveal host.
WWE’s annual Holiday Tour stopped in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday, where Punk successfully retained his championship with a win over The Vision’s Bronson Reed. After the match, a couple in the crowd held up a sign asking Punk to reveal the gender of their impending arrival.
“In the spirit of being a good-natured human being, I’m going to oblige,” Punk said. After calling for a drumroll, he announced the news: they were having a girl. The couple was joined by their infant daughter, whom Punk addressed with a smile. “You’re going to be a big sister. Congratulations.”
WWE’s cameras caught the moment and shared it on social media.
As for Punk’s official business in Tampa, he had a tough task in front of him in Reed. The champion felt Reed’s power early after a shoulder-to-shoulder collision sent him sprawling to the mat. Later, as he came off the second rope for a body press, Reed caught him and dropped him with a powerslam.
Punk also had to contend with Reed’s partner and his next title challenger, Bron Breakker, whom he will face on Raw on Jan. 5. Late in the match, Breakker tripped Punk from the apron as he set up for an attack.
The referee quickly ejected Breakker, but chaos followed. After Reed and Punk collided with the referee, Breakker returned to help Reed land a Tsunami. Jey Uso, who had defeated Breakker earlier by disqualification, rushed in and chased him away.
Amid the chaos, Reed became tangled on the top rope. Punk seized the opening, muscling the 330-pounder up for a match-winning superplex to the delight of the crowd.
