ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, so will temperatures across Tampa Bay.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid-40s Monday night in the Tampa area, with lows in the upper 30s along the nature coast.

Weather Impact Alerts are in effect for Wednesday (New Year’s Eve) and Thursday morning (New Year’s Day), with temperatures in the 30s inland, freezing temperatures along the Nature Coast, and wind chills making it feel even colder.

To prepare, counties across Tampa Bay are opening free cold weather shelters for anyone in need of a warm place to stay.
